My name is Christie Reed. I am 43 years old and the mother of 2 teenagers. My oldest graduated from Holden High School in 2015 and my youngest is going on 16. My husband works with a local farmer, mostly handling the semi-truck driving of loading and unloading the crops. Josh and I have been married since 2010 and we were lucky enough to be able to purchase this amazing home in 2014. I was in the business sector for 20+ years. I left that and went into Senior Caregiving. I did that for 4 years. Now I am onto a new adventure and I have named it King's Haven. This historic home was first owned by Nancy King, whose Father is the namesake for Kingsville, MO. So that is where I got the "King" part of the name. Haven I just chose because it represents a safe, secure place. I want to help people who have a sick child or pet and are struggling with having to go to work or someplace. Or they might have a loved one that gets put in the hospital in the middle of the night and you want to go be with that person during their time of need, but you have the "kids" (children and animals) at home. I want to be the call you can make to put your mind at rest and to be able to be where you need to be and still know that your "kid" will be taken care of, loved and well attend to. You can call anytime, day or night. I will answer 24/7, weekends and Holidays too. We have a large, clean and safe home. There is a security system for extra protection. We are also renting out the lower level of our historic home for parties, gatherings, meetings, etc. This is the perfect house for a Christmas party, Graduation pictures, Family reunion BBQ and many other things. The possibilities are endless. Call me to set up a time to come fill out the paperwork for child or animal care. That way when you need the service, you already have everything in order and it can be a quick dropoff situation. If you are interested in booking the home, call me so we can get your time scheduled and reserved. In all situations, this is a first come, first serve service. I can only accept 4 children at a time and the animals will depend on size and length of stay. Please note: that if there is an event scheduled for rental of our lower level, I will not accept children or animals during that time period. This is best for all involved. I don't want anything going on that might detract my full attention from your "kids."
As a single mother of 2 younger children, I dealt with daycare for many years. I was lucky to have my parent's close by, so they were always there to help when they were sick or I had an emergency unexpectedly arise . However, I know that there are many people out there that are not as lucky as me. That is how King's Haven Emergency Child Care came about. For those people that don't have family close, or maybe the family is the one's that have the emergency that you need to tend to. Now you have a "Plan B" at your disposal. Call King's Haven anytime, day or night. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and Holidays too.
I have had animals ever since I was little. I grew up with my parents always having at least one dog in the house. My journey started out with a cat that we rescued. I remember my Dad telling me, "we will put some milk out for it tonight and if it's still here in the morning, than you can keep it." Well that beautiful all smoke grey colored cat was still there, Ashes forever became a part of our family that morning. Many animals since then have had my heart, and broken it when they left to be in "animal Heaven." I have delivered 2 separate litters of puppies by myself, administered their shots and found them all forever homes. I have rescued many strays and found them all forever homes. We only have one dog right now that's in the house, and she is a Pekingese that was rescued from a puppy mill. Her name is Maddie and she has my heart completely and in full. We just rescued a stray baby kitten and nursed her back to health. We have many other animals out at my parents house on land they can run. There is a Brown Labrador, Siberian Husky, an Unknown (we know is she is part Blue Heeler, not sure on Father). We also have two female Blue Heeler's and a male Red Heeler as well as a horse named Mia. We love animals and treat them with the utmost of respect. Every animal should be spoiled, and we do our best!
My husband and I are the proud owner of a historic home. It was built back in 1854 and has been completely remodeled. It is 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and approximately 3,600 square feet and sits on almost an acre in town. The lower level has a very large living room area, a sitting room that has a pinball machine in it, a dining room, a large kitchen and a bedroom that has it's own extremely large full bathroom. This lower level has a outside door and porch or patio at each exit. Outdoor is a large patio to entertain on, a brick courtyard that has a small firepit located on it, very large trees and many flowers. There is ample parking for a good sized gathering. Our home was on the Christmas Homes Tour in 2014. Each time we have had people visit, they always comment that it is such a wonderful home and they have always wanted to be inside of it. Here's your chance, contact us to book this lower level for your next meeting or gathering!
